Catholic Medical Association From the Catholic Medical Association
Meeting 2000 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Resolution 3 Whereas, many live vaccines are grown on cell-culture lines (MRC-5 and WI-38) obtained from tissue acquired from aborted humans and, Whereas, the use of these vaccines constitutes remote material cooperation with the abortions, and Whereas, there is a duty to protect patients from infectious disease by immunizations wherever possible, Therefore, be it resolved that the Catholic Medical Association will promote the use of any available vaccines grown on tissues not acquired from aborted humans. Be it further resolved that American vaccine manufacturers be encouraged to develop alternative vaccines grown on cell lines which are not by products of abortion.
