UPDATE: 10-25-2011 The shareholder resolution has been filed - no further action is needed at this point until ballots are mailed in the Spring with our resolution. At that time, we would ask that you vote in favor of our request for ethical research. If the SEC rejects our request, we will be notifying the public again in a future press release. Until PepsiCo gets the message loud and clear from consumers: Just say no to aborted fetal cell lines in your research and development, we will continue to boycott their products. Many thanks to all who stepped forward to help - below is the original post from our July news release.
PepsiCo has partnered with Biomedical company, Senomyx to produce artificial flavor enhancers for their beverages. Senomyx is using HEK-293 (human embryonic kidney) aborted fetal cell line in their research and development of PepsiCo's flavors. In order to broaden investor knowledge and protect PepsiCo stockholders' interests, Children of God for Life is preparing to file a formal Shareholder Resolution with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). We believe that those who have invested their savings into PepsiCo stock have a right to know that their investments will suffer as a result of public boycotts.
Think
we couldn't possibly make a difference? Public outrage has been
significant - to the point that Senomyx has now removed all names of their
partners and collaborators from their website.
Campbell Soup severed all ties with Senomyx earlier this year, citing that
their relationship with their customers was far more important than their bottom
line or profit margins. PespsiCo just doesn't seem to get it. See
